The WG Parker Memorial Library

The WG Parker Memorial Library's opening hours are 9:30am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday and 9:30am - 12noon on Saturdays.

Services provided through the new Library and Rural Transaction Centre include; traditional library services, tourist information; professional offices, meeting room facilities, public fax services, laminating, photocopying, photograph printing, desktop publishing, CentreLink services, Medicare facilities, and the Job Network programme.

The WG Parker Memorial Library was officially opened on the 10th of June 2005 by the Hon John Cobb MP, Federal Member for Parkes.

The $1.5 millon project, including landscaping, was jointly funded by Carrathool Shire Council, Federal Government through the Rural Transaction Centre Program (grant $248,366) and State Government through the State Library of NSW (grant $150,250.) Staff moved to the new Library and Rural Transaction Centre and commenced operating in September 2004.

The Library Service was officially named the "WG Parker Memorial Library" in 1983, in honour of the late WG Parker. Cr Parker had played a significant role in the development of Local Government in Carrathool Shire and in the town of Hillston.
